Bennett School
Private Use Information

One-room schools historically serve as a community-gathering place as well as the hub of education. It is our desire to see that the Bennett School maintains this historical place in the community.

The West Des Mo;ines Historical Society provides the opportunity to rent this unique facility which includes the upstairs classroom area and multipurpose room in the lowr level including a modern kitchen.

Facility Capacity : 36

Rental Fees:

Private parties, Classes, Seminars, Reunions, etc.: $65 for up to 4 hours + returnable deposit of $150 + $15 for each additional hour.

Club Meetings (i.e. Red Hats, PEO, Questers, book clubs, etc.): $25 with a 3 hour limit.
Food and non-alcoholic drink - are allowed. Alcohol is prohibited.

Reservations - Are Required. Please call 515-225-1286 to schedule and make arrangements. Morning, afternoon an evening hours are available.
Rental of the school requires the time of WDM Historical Society volunteers. The Historical Society reserves the right to refuse a reservation if volunteers are not available.

Note: Classroom experiences led by a teacher or a nostalgic classroom visit led by a person who attended a one–room school are also available by request.
